Here’s Austin! This big goofy 9 month-old Lab/Shepherd mix boy was adopted from a shelter as a puppy but recently returned as his family was expecting a baby and no longer wanted him. Although Austin has a fantastic disposition, his previous family doesn’t seem to have spent much time training him as he can be like a bull in a china shop until he blows off some steam. Austin LOVES playing with other dogs and has a blast everyday in his foster home playing chase and wrestling with his fellow foster dogs. He can play a bit rough and rowdy so would need a canine companion who can match his intensity of play. Once he’s tired, he settles down nicely in his crate after playtime. Austin will need a home with another playful young dog and a secure yard with an aboveground fence to play in or he will soon become bored. Although currently strong as an ox on the leash, Austin is willing to learn and very food motivated so responds well to positive reinforcement training. Working with him on an EZWalk Harness will help as he practices his leash skills. Austin has huge potential and just needs someone who has the time to work with such an enthusiastic boy! Austin weighs about 52 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email [email protected] if you’re interested in Austin. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Austin and to submit an online application.
